I'm wondering if EA slid some money under the table to see this movie before it was released. Watching this movie is like watching the Dead Space video game brought to life. I can't remember what the original Thing was like; it has been too many years since I saw that one.
Anyway, yeah..... If you haven't played the game Dead Space, do it and you'll be fight creatures that look just like the Thing in this movie. They even sound the same.
Calling this a prequel is a bit of a stretch, in my opinion. The starting point timeline is a bit different but the core story is the same as the '51 & '82 versions. This and Carpenter's remake take you to gross digustamundo-land, which is part of the films uh, er "charm." I mean there's nothing like a slimy mimicking, shape shifting alien to help you lose your lunch. Personally I love a good gross-out Sci Fi flick. Take that recent film where the aliens fell from the sky with the hypnotic blue light - I forget the name 'cuz it was sort of a forgetable movie - you just couldn't beat it for the sheer weirdness of the aliens and the utterly disgusting things they did to their human captives. I mean, the guy/thing licks his girlfriend as she lay in the bowels of the slimy alien ship... eeeewwwwww! How "romantic."
good twist by having it a prequel, not a sequel, though not on the level of the 1982 version, the effects in that one were not CGI and so remain superior in my opinion, but non the less an exciting and tense horror. interesting making the female lead so strong, obviously signs of the times (as no lady in 1982 ,while the leading lady in 1951 just was decorative) and echoes of ALIEN.
worth watching and superior to many of it contemporary horrors, but "82 still stands.
It was a good sequal to the 1982 movie, had some reminders of the 1951 version as well, had lots of references to the 1982 version, playing pool, the spider man, even some of the human characters were similiar to the 1982 movie.
The ending however was not right, in the 1982 movie the dog survives and is chased by a norweigen man in a helicopter. Although it appears the dog survivesin this movie, My ending would have been the girl dies, the man survives and he starts the chase in a helicopter. However I think its worth 8.5 out of 10 stars. I think people say predicatble because it has so many similiarities to the 1982 movie, i dont think its predictable at all , if you havent seen the 1982 version.
It isn't a sequel, it is in fact a prequel. This one shows you how the Norweigen men stumbled upon it and how they all came to die. Hence the dude chasing the dog at the end.
NOT BAD AT ALL.... GOOD special effects.... not bad acting... but as it starts they should have put sub titled up... could not understand what the hell there were talking about. but it soon goes into english.... so good for that...
oh!!!!!!!!!! and thanks for the dvd quality guys... the move not as good as the original film... but still worth a watch.... so i give the movie 7/10... and you guys for working so hard and getting top quality pic's so fast... 10/10... for you guys...

Lots of action. Newest version was pretty good. Kind of reminded me of LIviathon. Much better now that I could see what was actually happening. Thanks.
Good special effects ok acting still think it could have been better. Can not compare with the last remake. story line varied some what but still very predictable.. 7 out of 10
finally a good copy, didnt think it would happen. The quality on vidreel link is real good, sounds good too. Has far as the movie goes, pretty entertaining. i figured that i would have to expect cgi ridden effects, and there is. But there not that bad. I wish that rick baker could have been brought in and used real special effects. After all the original was ground breaking when it came to that, but now a days thats to much to ask. Btw why did they call it The Thing if its a pre-quel

Not once did I say I hate this site in anyway my friend, I just miss the old days when there were dozens of movies added weekly. Taking the time to attack comments posted by others is just weak and childish seems your the one trolling my friend, there are forums you can go to that others such as yourself can take the time to waste your days being an ass on, this not being one of them im afraid. Most of us come here to enjoy the movies, comments are there to post such things as quality ratings enjoyment of the films and feedback for the site to improve on.
I happen to miss being at a loss trying to figure out what I want to watch in a day as there were always sooo many to choose from, my library of choice backed up so often I couldnt keep up, now that may not be a fault of Zmovie in anyway and im sure it isnt, but I do know there are many movies I would enjoy watching and have been waiting for that arent making it to the net lately and with many going straight to the shelves its hard to even know whats out there, that doesnt mean im bashing on the site in anyway, I will always remain a fan and loyal user of Zmovie.
Props for taking the time to misconstrue my comments though.

so I guess every one just blew this movie off it was out in theaters for like a week and then they got rid of it and it seems like no one is filming a better version for the site eather
yet another parable why filmmakers should never, ever, remake classic or any other good films - in the end the original is simply destroyed. John Carpenter never really made a decent film after this - he must be dying just a bit more to see this mess - I suppose the dailies showed such bad direction and film making that the money cruncher's and the studio execs decided to darken it in Post Production - these actors will never work again - through no fault of their own

download real player go into properties and choose downloads pick download on mouse over and apply. i usually use nov mov or similar to download just place mouse over screen and download to real player will pop up on the right hand side just click the blue are and your done it will start immediately.

Howdy there, there are two options to download the movie which ya are streamin,, 1. Ya can install an extension if ya are using fire fox for downloading flash vids 2. or ya can install the downloader some thing like dap, idm that`s all i guess have a nice day.
No u cant download from this site this site is more of like a middle man. It only post links to where the movies are. That way there not breaking any laws. however if im correct some of the sites listed do allow you to download from them.
Be happy that someone recorded the movie for you. If you don't like it then go to the theater and go pay to see the movie. it takes alot of time to put theses movies on here and u bad something bad to say about it when its free to watch.
hey I like those complaints better then I like you AK's who dont say anything to help people not waste time watching something they would have rather waited for a better quality one to be downloaded
free or not its those "complainers" that help this sit know if they need to change anything cause Im pretty sure who ever owns this site wants to have the best quality films he can find

As i say above it's a shame but it is far too dark to make much out, but from what i have seen a good 7/10, hope a clearer one turns up. Thanks for the effort though.
