After witnessing a mysterious train crash, a group of friends in the summer of 1979 begin noticing strange happenings going around in their small town, and begin to investigate into the creepy phenomenon..
I didn't like it... at all. I hate these movies that are set in 1970's mid-west- back-water places like the town in this movie. And the main characters were preteens. I DO NOT like preteen actors as they have little to no experience or skill in acting and ruin movies. Regarding the story: it took a while for the story to get started. Now, I barely have a problem with this - I love most movies and movie styles and am actually pretty used to slowly progressing movies - but in this movie, it took a very long time for the film to start, and it didn't go anywhere. It has a sci-fi, horror characteristic about it, but at the same time, most of this movie showed us the life of all the main preteen characters, which I really didn't care about. I barely got through this film - whenever I was about to turn it off, I would hear a loud noise in the background and keep it on. 1/5 Complete eyesore - that 1 point I gave it was because of decent computer effects/animations/and alien concepts. Everything else sucked.
Its a great movie and while its a simple alien movie, it really doesn't feel like it with it's approach. The child actors were great and I really believed their characters. That was the best part. It was really about their story and character interaction. The plot line was really more like a side note to help further their stories.
Also if you didn't know, Super 8 is the film magazine to which the one boy is trying to make a film for.
I lasted 13 and a half mins this time...then I puked. Still,I'm proud of my staying power,(patience is a virtue an all that). Next time I'm 8 or 9 years old I'm a-comin back fer this un. Non-rateable due to it's shite : - (
i liked this, funny n action, just didnt know why the entire population of that city didnt call Aljazeera or CNN, that would have kept the military iron hand in check :) :)
Well it was kind of boring for me most of the way through and the picture was so dark i could hardly see what was going on. The movie got better near the end, gave it 4/5 stars.
This movie was surprisingly good. I shoulda watch it in theater. I really like the characters developement between the boy and the girl. It's like E.T. all over again except this time it's a love story and no bond with the creature.
some scenes/lines could have been cut off or been better, seriously and that main kid actor sucked balls! because of all the hype about it, i expected much much more
Yeah, I couldn't help but think it was a Sci-Fi remake of the Goonies also.
It isn't a bad film but I don't think it will be remembered as a great film . It gets an A for effort for trying to take a new and different angle on the Goonies themed story and it does have some good special effects but the kids actors let it down a bit in some scenes and besides the two main characters everyone else seemed rather generic and forgetable.
I think it is worth a watch as it did have some good scenes in it and I would give it a 7 out of 10.
Definitely wasn't what it was hyped up to be in my opinion. Yet I'm still glad I watched it. I wish more movies based out of the 70's era would be made, I miss shows like that.
Just saw it in the theater today! Was a good movie but kinda messed up and could have been better at parts and shown more of that alien thing, but other than that, it was good. 4/5
I watched it right through but found this disappointing after all the Hype. Another story of a megalomaniac colonel knowing what's best for the good ole USA,only to be brought down by school children.(sic)
I thought this movie was really good. Kinda brought the memories of being a kid and watching ET, Aliens, ect. It's more of a kids movie, but well worth the watch for an adult also. The picture quality was "watchable" (i give the video 7/10) and the audio was very good (audio gets a 9/10). Over all i give the movie itself a 4/5. Definately recommend to people of all ages. I will watch it again and maybe even a 3rd or 4th time in future...Enjoy!!!
I thought it was very slow from beginning to end. My being 62 and having watched movies about grown up action and adventure all my life spoiled me. I'm sure I'm biased towards a kid movie, I like GROWN up movies! probably a good movie for young people and people that wish they were young but not for me.
This movie was very mysterious before it came out which had me thinking what the hell is this about but when i saw it it made me think wow how awesome. This is one of my favorite movies of 2011
We'll its a good movie... Only thing is very strange young boys running around like that what the hell are their parents doing sleeping while the their kids are running around... They don't even feel concern about them........ As for the Aline he looks like toilet bug lol he even don't look a bit advance.... Old bug alien with bad smell oh and sound also
Loved it. It was as enjoyable as watching E.T. many years ago but with so much more action. I got a good version to watch, too. I think it was xtshare #1. The video starts out a little rough but then the operator makes adjustments and it is a good copy.
I think it would of been better if Mr Spielberg was the director instead of being the producer. Honestly not what I had expected. It needed more explosions, action better aliens and scarier moments. But don't take my word for granted, watch it and decide. 7/10
this was an interesting movie wasn't the best but wasnt that bad either. Must say it was a bit drawn out or at least felt that way to me but overall not a bad watch to pass the time 3/5 prob wont watch again though
ow can any ....i say anyone like this crappy movie is beyond me............and i am not hard to please ......a b rated movie is better then this............
It's nice that this site has more links then the other sites. Movie was average. It was a cross between E.T and the movie Aliens. Otherwise, just another Hollywood movie with no real thought. 2.7/5
